MOONLIGHT SILHOUETTE
The sun had gone to sleep now
The moon was wide awake
But my feelings of sorrow
Were difficult to shake
Standing on the beach
Sleep had eluded me
My reality unsure now
And she a memory
I scanned the distant horizon
For a moonlight silhouette
But my eyes were disappointed
My heart it was bereft
The waves that licked my toes
Sang a plaintive lullaby
It was as if they knew
This really was goodbye.
The sun had gone to sleep now
The moon was wide awake
But my feelings of sorrow
Were difficult to shake
Standing on the beach
Sleep had eluded me
My reality unsure now
And she a memory
I scanned the distant horizon
For a moonlight silhouette
But my eyes were disappointed
My heart it was bereft
The waves that licked my toes
Sang a plaintive lullaby
It was as if they knew
This really was goodbye.
